Thanks everyone

Dad tells me that lots of you are praying for me and writing cool emails. Well things are moving much faster then we expected. I guess reducing my medicine really brings on the seizures. I have already had 2 strong ones (4 AM and 4:20 AM - which means Mom got no sleep.)

Dr. Szabo came by and was encouraged. He thinks they should preform a SPECT scanon me. Brain SPECT imaging is a nuclear medicine study that uses very small doses of radioisotopes to evaluate brain blood flow and activity patterns. SPECT is widely recognized as an effective tool for evaluating brain function in seizures and head trauma. There are hundreds of research articles on these topics (see www.brainplace.com for a list).

It's the head

Dad tries to explain it is the head they need to look at, but the Docs want to check my heart as well. Boy, all these wires and no one lets me pull anything.

Bummer!

Just waiting

So the rest of the day I got to watch Wheel of Fortune (my Dad makes tapes for me), do some puzzles and eat. The Doctors just keep me here waiting for me to have a seizure. Then they hope to catch it on video and with an EEG at the same time.

Mom says, if they find the seizures are Focal (coming from one area) then there may be the possibility of surgery to reduce my seizures. They don't think they will ever stop but maybe not so many as now.

Check in Day

We have checked Alex into University Hospital for neurological testing. It has been 6 years since the last series of tests. So we figure now is the time to get another round of testing done.

We hope to capture several seizure episode with an EEG and video recorder. After that they may decide to also do some more advance testing such as SPEC or PET scans. We can expected to stay anywhere for 4 to 10 days. Marycke and I will trade off days staying at the hopstial.

He completed his MRI by noon, check into the hospital by 1:00 PM, visit with Dr. Szabo at 3:00, but was still asleep when I left at 3:30.
We are in Room 1253, the telephone number is 210.358.1253, and visiting hours are 10Am to 8Pm
If you come I must warn you the parking is terrible. I cam across Wurzbach, west of Medical, found mention-minger which led me to the parking.

Thanks for your prayers and support.

The Life and Times of Alex Shaver

This weekend was great fun! My Mom let me use scissors to 'trim' all the bushes in the front yard. I made a BIG pile.

Earlier my Dad took me to look for trains. We saw 2 or 3 near New Braunfelds.
