School starts

Summer is over and I have returned to Mac Arthur High School. On the first day Dad took me. We got to meet the other kids getting off the bus.

One of my friends is in a wheelchair. I like to watch the lift move him on and off the bus.

Mr. Warden is my teacher some days.

Ms Higgins on others.

There are lots of teachers that give me assistance. I also spend a lot of time with Ms Perkins. She is a teacher's aide.

An early Sunday

Well, I made it through a Saturday without cluster seizures. But I did have a single seizure at 3 AM.

Dad got up. Got me to go potty. Then moved me into his bed. Mom and I slept through the rest of the night.

Dad was awake and worked till 6 AM. Then he went to sleep in my bed.

Dad makes a great pillow too!

Trains

Another Saturday and Dad takes me to watch the trains. We spend 3-4 hours following trains around San Antonio. Most times we stop for drinks or lunch.

Today we traveled all the way South of San Antonio and found Stinson Airfield. This is where Jim keeps his plane.

We stopped at Taco Cabano for lunch and got to have Tortillas with Cheese. Yum!

Visiting the ARC

In San Antonio there are several places for adult youths to go during the day.
Dad was working and Mom took off to go visit sister Megan (up in Austin). So I went to spend the day at the ARC.

There were about 40 people inside. They had planned a day of swimming but unfortunately thunderstorms moved into the area.

Little Better

I'm feeling better. Still sleepy. Dad took me to watch planes and maybe chase some trains.

For the past 3 weeks I have been eatting mostly salad for every meal. Now Dad makes a big 'bucket' of salad which we take on our road trips.

Oh yeah, we still get MacDonalds. Mom suggested we get chicken strips to mix in the salad. She thinks I need the protein.

Today we saw them repairing a Canadian Pacific Engine.

Bummer

Oh well, another Seven Seizure Saturday.

Lately my seizures have been under much better control. Rather than daily, I have had 7-10 days without seizures. Then I get this cluster of 7 or more seizures and my folks have to give me Diastat.

It had been 8 days since my last seizures. And then I only had 2 seizures that day.

Before that I had not had cluster seizures since July 9th. Pretty good. Only 2 bad days in nearly a month! Last May I was having them every weekend.

Last night, Dad took me to 'chase trains' along FM78 East of San Antonio. We saw lots of them! Read all about my adventures on my weblog at: http://cafealex.blogspot.com/

1:36 AM Tonic Clonic, Dad comes and sits with me. 20 minutes later I stagger to the bathroom and Dad lets me switch beds. Now Mom will watch me.
2:48 AM Tonic Clonic
4:42 AM Tonic Clonic
5:49 AM Tonic Clonic
7:36 AM Tonic Clonic, Mom gives me my medicine early
8:36 AM Tonic Clonic, Sart Mom, I did have more seizures so she gave me Diastat, Now I should sleep a long time.

12:45 PM Tonic Clonic, I had gotten up around 10:30 and went into Dad's office. There I played with my train for awhile but soon fell asleep. Dad got a pillow for my head. This Diastat should keep me sleepy for the next 24 hours. Sure enough I fell asleep by 11 AM. Another seizure abruptly work me again. I soon fell back asleep.

2:45 PM I am up. No more seizures.

Summer Fun

Things have been HOT here in San Antonio. Mom takes me to look for planes and trains. And sometimes, we get to go ride the Zoo train. Yahoo!!

Airplane

What a great day. Dad's friend, Mr. Weaver, took Mom, Dad and me on an airplane ride. It was a 'late' birthday present.

Jim gets us buckled in.

The headsets let us 'talk'. Mom looks a little nervous about the take off.

This is assume! We are flying over the city and train switching yard.
Wow, so many trains!

All done. I'm ready to do it again.

I have 20 or so other pictures of my trip. Just click here to see the album.

Thanks Mr. Weaver!!
