8 Glorious Days

Well friends, it has been 8 glorious days since Alex's last seizure. Of course no one knows why we have seizures 12 of 14 days and then go this long without one. But we do not care. It is great just to have him seizure free and Marycke and I getting to sleep.

We finally got a surgery date to replace his VNS battery, Feb 9th. Of course if he remains seizure free till then....

Two doctors in Alex's life, Dr. Szabo, the neurologist and Dr. Jimenez, the neurosurgeon just had articles written about them. You will have to copy and paste to view the articles. I have posted them at

Same song

Seizures continue Saturday and Sunday. Sunday alone he had:
3:14 AM - tonic clonic seizure
3:53 AM - tonic clonic seizure
4:38 AM - tonic clonic seizure
5:04 AM - tonic clonic seizure, gave 15 mg Diastat

Neal wants to increase the Klonopin but Dr. Szabo said that is harder to get off. So we increased another of the 3 drugs Alex takes, ZOnegram, to 3 pills, twice per day.

Hope this helps.

Off to school

Alex has missed the last 3 days of school. But with only 1 night time seizure and two small ones this morning, Neal took him to school.

School calls by noon and says to pick him up. He has had a small seizure and does not look too good.

Bummer.

Seizure time again!
